Geneva summer school on global environmental policypublished: February 4, 2014
Organised in partnership with UNEP, the Executive Summer School on Global Environmental Policy in Geneva will help professionals bridge the gap between scientific knowledge and professional expertise related to core environmental themes. It is organised by the University of Geneva and UNEP and will take place from 31st August to 12th September 2014 in Geneva.
The modules will provide intensive immersion in the latest political and scientific issues on the global environmental agenda. They will link scientific knowledge, political sensitivity and practical negotiation techniques relevant to the development and implementation of legal and voluntary international agreements. The summer school will build on participants’ knowledge base and increase their concrete decision-making, problem-solving and negotiation skills. Thematic modules include: negociation skills and consensus building, green economy, institutional governance, environmental health challenges, risk governance, environmental ethics and social justice, complexity, transdisciplinary and participatory decision making.
A limited number of scholarships will be attributed to cover half the tuition fee. Applications for scholarship will be reviewed by a Scientific Committe and selection will be based on academic merit, professional experience and financial need. Applicants seeking a scholarship should submit an application as soon as possible, and are advised to look for alternative sponsors to cover the other half and other expenses.
