Seeking Future Earth Engagement Committeepublished: February 17, 2014
Future Earth is a 10-year international research programme that will provide the knowledge required for societies to face global environmental change and identify opportunities for transformations to global sustainability. Future Earth brings together thousands of scientists of all disciplines, natural and social, as well as engineering, the humanities and law.
The Future Earth Engagement Committee is a strategic advisory group that will foster in-depth and innovative interactions between science and society; it will provide strategic advice from users’ perspectives concerning Future Earth’s research, engagement and other activities, and develop high-level engagement with stakeholders including policymakers, business and civil society .
Working closely with Future Earth’s Science Committee and the Secretariat, the Engagement Committee will advise the Governing Council on research priorities for the programme, help identify key stakeholders at the global, regional and national levels, advise on how best to engage them in Future Earth, and provide leadership and creative thinking on how to bridge the gap between knowledge and solutions for sustainable development. This will include co-designing research agendas, co-producing knowledge, and co-disseminating perspectives, evidence and knowledge in government, business and civil society, to ensure scientific knowledge makes a larger contribution to societal debate and decision-making. The Future Earth Engagement Committee is expected to be appointed in June 2014.
If you wish to apply or to nominate an applicant, please review the call here and complete the application form. The deadline for applications is 14 March 2014.
The process to establish the Engagement Committee is led by the Science & Technology Alliance for Global Sustainability – acting as the Governing Council of Future Earth – and facilitated by the Future Earth interim Secretariat.
