At the recent CODESRIA General Assembly in Dakar, Senegal, Thandika Mkandawire and Pierre Sané presented the World Social Science Forum 2015.
The World Social Science Forum is an endeavour to present the voices and perspectives of African scholars. How do we restructure global relations in order to ensure a just world?
Thandika Mkandawire spoke on the sub-theme of theorising and measuring income inequality and underlined the critical importance of Thomas Piketty’s approach. Pierre Sané, based upon the ten years when he was responsible for the social science portfolio in UNESCO, spoke about genesis of the World Social Science Fora and their role in both profiling the importance of the social sciences and setting global agenda. He also spoke about the intersections with the objectives of the World Social Forums.
Carlos spoke about how WSSF 2015 had been incorporated into CODESRIA’s 2015/16 programme of work and how it was being used to promoting the South-South partnership.
