The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) is seeking a new executive director to take over when the current executive director steps down from his term in 2017.
The Inter-American Institute for Global Change Research (IAI) is a regional, intergovernmental institution that promotes scientific research and capacity building on the extent, causes, and consequences of global change in the Americas and beyond. Currently, the IAI has 19 ratified member countries, which constitute the Conference of the Parties –the principal policy-making organ of the Institute.
The Director is responsible for preparing IAI long-range plans and financial policies; proposing the annual work programme and budget; designing and implementing fund‐raising strategies; implementing on a day‐to‐day basis those financial policies and elements of the annual work programme and budget, which are approved by the CoP; acting (in an ex-officio capacity) as Secretary of the CoP and other IAI executive and scientific organs; promoting and representing the IAI; and ensuring the continued participation of member countries in IAI meetings and activities as well as promoting the compliance of their financial commitments. The Director manages the Directorate, located on the Laboratorio Tecnológico del Uruguay (LATU) in Montevideo, Uruguay, and its staff and related facilities.
